Vale Pieces o Nine

Postby OZ_Nick » Thu Jan 23, 2014 7:05 pm

Some of you may not know me, however, I have been a member here for a long time. One of our fellow members and a moderator here with whom I have had a long on-line friendship, mostly on another forum, Pieces o Nine, has been a good friend to me and a great number of others. We became concerned about her absence from the forum since mid December and I noted that she had also been absent here since then. I have been making enquiries about her without success.

Today I learnt from one of the other members of that other forum the worst possible news. Our dear Pieces of Nine passed away on 23 December 2013.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Gail M. Rallens, 54, formerly of Grand Island, NE, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013.

That is very sad news indeed. I regarded Pieces as a friend; we were always in touch via PMs.

Thank you, Oz Nick.

I cannot put into words how I feel about her passing. May she be sitting at the right hand of the FSM, full of beer and pasta, and enjoying the delights of the stripper factory. I'll really miss her. :fsm:

When reading through forums for the first time, certain members soon stand out for their wit and generosity and the affection with which they're regarded by other members. Pieces was such a one on this forum. My thoughts are with her family and all who knew her.

She will most definitely be missed. I know I don't keep up with people here that well, but I looked back through my PMs over the years and sure enough, she was always there with support, interest, and mischief.

Goes without saying, but the forums won't be the same without her. Pesto be upon her.

The last time i we shared a pm was on Dec 15 th . We were exchanging gifts for Christmas . I jokingly asked for " a photogragh of you " and sang the rest of the song from A Flock of Seagulls to her in my nefyoo voice
, but we agreed on her creating a doggie vest for my sister's pet .She was one of the very few here that was aware of all my personaes here . Rest ye well my dear pieces . From me , Mad Willyum , Auntie and your adoring Nefyoo .

I cannot express enough how saddened i am to hear of your passing. You were always there with wit, sarcasm, and kindness. Our world has lost a beautiful human being. You cannot be replaced and, although i have been away far too long, i will miss you always. You were a credit to us all.

This was written by my great-grandfather nearly a century ago. Even then, he knew to leave the door open a crack.

Love’s Little While
By Rev. Arthur C Townsend

“A little while and ye shall not see me; and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go unto the Father.” John 16:16

We will not say that they are gone,
Though to love’s call we hear no voice
In “place prepared” their life goes on,
With the dear Master of their choice.

The door now closed a moment there,
To hide them from our tear-dimmed eyes,
Is only letting love prepare
For waiting hearts some glad surprise.

That door shall open when Love wills,
And they shall stand to greet us there,
Freed from all trace of mortal ills,
In life eternal, bright and fair.

And so we wait outside love’s door,
While hope our grief shall reconcile;
And we shall love our own the more,
For waiting here love’s little while.

Goodbye, Pieces. May we meet again, some brighter day, with the next turn of the wheel.

What a shock to put a name and face to a gracious lady in this way. I'll miss the PM's when something I posted got a laugh, her concerns and compassion for her "forum flock". [I was actually looking for news on bart and stumbled across this.] Feeling a little gutted. Thanks Nick, though the news is sad, it's better than not knowing.

From time immemorial, there has been only pieces-of-eight in pirate lore, and no one has ever asked why.

Our darling Pieces O'Nine was so entrenched in time and space that her loss has sent ripples backwards through time. There never were pieces of nine, only pieces of eight. Her loss has changed time itself.

We miss you, PON.
