I used that one earlier today. Elvalia wasn't impressed but her mum was. Make of that what you will

While we're derailing this thread, I heard another couple of crap chemistry jokes the other day:
A man was working at an esterification plant when he fell into one of the reaction containers. He survived but he was terribly butylated. (I may have told that one on here before.)
Two chemists go to the pub to have a drinking competition. The first chemist looks at the barman and says 'A pint of H2O please." He downs it and says "Your turn" to the other one. The second chemist says "I'll have a pint of H2O too please." Needless to say the first chemist won.
For those that don't appreciate my awful humour, butylation is the introduction of a butyl group and rhymes with mutilation and H2O too is pronounced the same as H2O2 which is hydrogen peroxide.

I think that Chinese bloke has gone to complain to the United Nations by now.

I think that's the quickest I've ever seen a thread go off-topic.
1 = Sensible post.
2 = Bart's reply
3-5 = Fish heads
6-8 = Counting
9-10 = Rubbish jokes.

Nah, no-one would fall for that. Make a post about the British national debt and I reckon I can drag it into gun ownership and socialised healthcare pretty quickly

Hopefully studying chemistry won't suck too hard.
Are you actually going to study chemistry? Awesome

I'm going to try and apply to Chemical engineering... don't know if that's a good choice or not yet. But, so far I've like chemistry the best (and really, I like to make stuff 'splode) out of all my science courses.
Of course, I still get the urge to drop everything and just go into art, but I don't think I would enjoy art as much as a job rather than a hobby.
As for thread derailing...
If people keep getting braces to correct crooked teeth, no one will ever know who has or hasn't had braces. As a result, are the future children doomed to a future of horribly crooked teeth?
I mean.. if it was inherited from the parents, and both the parents had braces, would the resulting child's teeth be worse?

Chem Eng is the industrial side of the subject, it's mainly concerned with reaction rates, mixing, construction of reaction vessels etc. You'll need to be good with maths and have a pretty good grasp of physics, specifically thermodynamics and entropy.
And I think all chemists started getting interested with things that burn or explode

You want to put fluoride in the water! You're filling people full of corrosive chemicals and trying to control the population by influencing their minds! You're part of the Evil Empire!
How's that for thread derailing? We've gone from jokes to career advice to dental care to conspiracy theories.
