There are 31,426 users on this forum. I am only seeing about 10. 31,426 is pretty misleading. 10 might not be accurate either but I bet the correct number of users is closer to 10 than 31,426.

What do you guys think? The data seems inaccurate.

Thank you for your keen interest in board statistics.

The CoFSM is regularly attacked by the forces of Satan, or at least Legions of spammers. A few of us battle them as best we can with the available tools. Most can be exterminated before they are visible to the rest of the board. Some few make initial posts here but do not go on to post in other topics -- or even log-in again -- before being purged. Did you have helpful remarks to make on this topic?

Purge out inactive users that haven't posted in 2 years or longer. It is very hard to search for members. Were you actually craving helpful remarks?

I'm sure that I am not the first to make this recommendation. Do you plan on utilizing my helpful remarks, ignoring them, insulting them or entirely something different?

Thank you for the novel suggestion, and I do apologize that we aren't clearing them quickly enough to suit you. I've personally eradicated 10,000 inactive members off the roles just from 2013, and that's not counting the 1-4 pages of new ones creating their spammy little accounts every day. That's also not counting the ones WOE exterminates every day. And that's also not counting the ones exterminated by all other past and present mods and admins... Some spammers are actually quite industrious and do not appear to have any real world responsibilities to interfere with their activity on various forums.

One does need to be a little careful in this extremely tiresome and irritating exercise, especially after a long day in the work world; it would be a great pity to accidentally ban the IP of a member who was planning to post eventually, but who just hadn't gotten around to it yet, wouldn't it?

I didn't realize there were so many phoney accounts. Ignore me. I've never managed an interactive website.

Also, keep in mind that sometimes active members go into hibernation for extended periods to do RL things like attend university (Elvalia, for example), or potentially serve time in the military (LLR and his ilk), or serve time in the local penitentiary (Worley ).
