W X Y Z 17
Z X X Y 19
Z X X X 18
Z Y Y w 14
16 17 ? 17

Edit: Ahh crap its not aligning right, but you can see how its supposed to be. 4X4 grid of letters with a number corresponding to each row and column.

i have never been good at numnber substitution...but my HGTTG tells me the answer is 42...and you can't tell me different.

Heres a new one

A man is sitting in a pub feeling rather poor. He sees the man next to him pull a wad of £50 notes out of his wallet.
He turns to the rich man and says to him,
"I have an amazing talent: I know almost every song that has ever existed."
The rich man laughs.
The poor man says, "I am willing to bet you all the money you have in your wallet that I can sing a genuine song with a lady's name of your choice in it."
The rich man laughs again and says, "OK, how about my daughter's name, Joanna Armstrong-Miller?"
The rich man goes home poor. The poor man goes home rich.

What song did he sing?

? = 14 where x=5, z=3, y=2, and w=7

that works

ehh...im a physics major...i do that kind of math for breakfast.......:D

here's an oldie...but a goodie

You have 2 empty jugs, one hold 5 gallons, the other holds 3 gallons. You are next to a lake with a LOT of water in it. I need exactly 4 gallons of water...how do you do it? You can ONLY use the jugs you have...no outside stuff and the answer is NOT 'aliens'

I saw Die Hard 3, so I guess I'll abstain from this one. That is unless no one gets it within a few days.
