George R R Martin wrote another small series of books set approximately ninety years before the Song of Ice and Fire series, called The Tales of Dunk and Egg. There are three so far: The Hedge Knight; The Sworn Sword; and The Mystery Knight. Several more are to follow eventually, dealing with the two main protagonists of the mini-series. I have them to read once i've started and finished A Dance With Dragons.

I finally finished The Dark Tower series and am still sad about that .
I just picked up Terry Pratchett's The Fifth Elephant , fun stuff so far .
