I have read John Cowper Powys's novel Owain Glendower which is a fictional account of the rebellion and is a terrific read.

It would make a great film with an Aussie or American actor as Prince Glendwr and Meryl Streep as his wife. Oscars all round. Freeeeeeedom look you!

Onto book three of Song of Fire and Ice. Book two and season two of the show were a lot more different than book/season one. Although some of it was necessary, like the way the Battle of Blackwater Bay turned out.
"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed'? Instead they say, 'No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.'" - Carl Sagan

"To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection." - Henri Poincaré

This is a list of books that I have read since December 7, 2012 in chronological order:

The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster
Candide
Tao Te Ching
Tao Te Ching (second time)
The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (second time)
Tao Te Ching (third time)
Why Can't We Be Good
Candide (second time)
The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (third time)
Candide (third time)
Bible
Generation Me
Tao Te Ching (fourth time)
The Peter Principle
Cross Roads
The Salt Plan
Communist Manifesto
The Dilbert Principle

I am currently not reading anything. I am thinking of reading the Book of Mormon or Atlas Shrugged but those books are so huge it's hard to find the motivation to start on it.

Which part would offend Rain? Atlas Shrugged? or my attitude of being overwhelmed by voluminous books?

Just finished Kim Stanley Robinson's Science in the Capitol trilogy about anticipating, experiencing, and mitigating the consequences of global warming. Pretty interesting, with some very original mitigation strategies, and a major superstorm named Sandy that hits the Atlantic coast of the USA with devastating effects. That part was written in 2004.

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.

What happens when all the renewable energy runs out?
-- Victoria Ayling

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

He might; he like Ayn Rand's books. He'll be checking on this topic again one of these days...

I'm not so much a fan anymore, but read it many years ago, and it made quite an impression on me then.

I am a little different. It might take me many years to read it. That book is huge.

Ooo er.

I'm reading Jerusalem: The Biography, by Simon Sebag-Montefiore. A very full account of the known history of Jerusalem from the earliest days to the present. Very interesting indeed.

In your opinion, when was the best time to be there?
