Yep, IUPAC recommendation is to spell sulphur as sulfur. By the by, their preferred spelling of Element 13 is aluminium.

So I can either win my persistent argument that element 13 is spelled "aluminium", and spend the rest of eternity having to say "sulfur", or I can lose the aluminium argument and continue spelling sulphur the only way that doesn't hurt my mouth.
