Traditionally pieces of eight were spanish dollars made from silver and in use for literally centuries. Because of its uniformity in standard and milling characteristics, they were used by many countries as international currency.

I would suggest that being a Pieces of Nine, it shows that PON was truly unique and one of a kind - and all the more valuable and missed because of it.

PoN was the kind of person I've always aspired to be. One is tempted to simply list every positive attribute in the dictionary, starting with kind, compassionate, humorous, intelligent, talented...

I'll be having a drink in her memory, putting it on Bart's tab, of course. Then I'll have one for Bart, on PoN's.

As far as I know, Rainswept didn't have a running tab anywhere in Portsmouth or thereabouts so I'll have one for him on Roy's tab (I'm sure he won't even notice with his lavish admin's salary).
