Food Drive - Million Noodle March
Moderator: All Things Mods
(Double post to let people know there's new info in here...)
Hey, all.
Just a reminder: we're in the long stretch between the Easter and Thanksgiving holidays. This is normally the "lean time" for food banks.
But, with our help, it doesn't have to be this way. Remember that for we Pastafarians, every Friday is a holiday! What better way to celebrate it than to share the Holy Meal with the less fortunate?
Imagine the impact if each of us gave just one packet of spaghetti or one small jar of sauce every Friday:
- A 1 lb packet of spaghetti is 450 noodles
- Giving one per week for a year would add up to 23 400 noodles
- If 42 people did this, we'd be at Doc's goal of 1 000 000 noodles within a year.
So take up the challenge, and remember that one of the virtues of Pastafarianism is that you're never more than a week away from a Holy Day: it's ALWAYS holiday season!
So go out, get some pasta and find your local food bank!

I've started a list of food bank dropoff locations! Please post the ones near you (or that you find through Google) so area Pastafarians know where to contribute to the cause!

Rule o' thumb is 1 g = 1 noodle, so that's 3000!
I'd better play catchup... I'm thinking about doing some volunteer work with Food Not Bombs this weekend, cooking for the homeless. PERFECT cause for a Pastafarian, and I might pick up some vegetarian recipes.
EDIT: Mark me down for 2 hrs of volunteer... among other things we did a vegan lasagna - I made the sauce.

On of our homeless outreach programs here in LR lost their lease(it was due to neighbor complaints about homeless ppl contaminating their ritzy neighborhood or some such shit) because they owner caved to pressure so now they are back under the bridge doentown--No more luxury of washing hands or using a flush toilet for those loosers, I hope you all know I am being snarky!
I am going to noodle them this afternoon-- I think though that dry pasta will be hard for them to deal with so I'm not sure what I will do but I'll be there.
I think the main group doing this is the River City Ministry( an example of ppl putting their money where their mouths are not just wearing WWJD tee shirts)

I'm *not* the lowest rank on this ship. What about the laboratory mice? I tell them something and they jump straight to it. "Yes, Mr. Lister Sir, eek, eek."

That sucks for the homeless shelter (and the homeless who were previously there), but it's good you've gotten involved.
And you don't necessarily have to give away dry pasta. I believe that was suggested (besides the obvious FSM inspiration) mainly because most food banks like to receive non-perishables.
BTW - if you know of any food bank dropoff locations that other Little Rockians (what do you call someone from Little Rock? Little Rockers?
) can use, feel free to post some details here.
But I for one am glad to have you aboard. Fresh meat! Hooray!
