Re: octopus = holy animal?
It's a binary question. 0 for no, 1 for yes. The answer is 8.
Really, you can have any holiday you want, whether or not any one else participates/celebrates. I'm sure if you were to put in the effort to set one up, we'd all play along.
Holidays usually are more evolutions, rather than "Hey, let's make this a holiday." But don't tell Ol' Chumbucket and Cap'n Slappy that.

We could have TWO octopus holidays, one in August (the eighth month) and one in October (the month named after the number 8)! It would be great! Maybe?

Re: octopus = holy animal?
Hmmm, my birthday is October 9th, so I wouldn't mind having that be the second day of a Pastafarian Chanukkah.
The problem between August and October is the whole Gregorian calendar thing. Doesn't make a lick of sense. I wonder if it's time to resurrect the idea for a Pastafarian Calendar. Something that would actually have 28 days to a month, and 12 or 13 months (I can't remember the math exactly). There's about 5 days left over, but that's where the Pastafarian New Years 5-day celebration comes in. And on leap years, that celebration is just 6 days!
None of this "counting your knuckles and in between them to remember how many days are in a month."
From there, we could course make the 8th month include our Octo-fest.
