What happens when people actually start believing in FSM?
A thought just occurred to me. What would happen if someone came to this site, and thought "that looks good" and actually starts genuinely believing in all of this?
If people can believe in any other religion, then it's not too much of a leap of faith to think people could actually believe in the Spaghetti Monster is it?

What do you mean, "if"? Of course we believe.

You do raise an interesting point. Although it is unlikely that anybody with faith to start with is going to come here and start believing, and an atheist. . . well they are atheists for a reason.

I think that it is rather improbable that a person, already indococtrinated to another faith, would find the Church of the FSM and take it to heart. A person who is a blank slate when it comes to "faith" however might be swayed if we could get them early enough....say, birth. It's how the other faiths work, why not ours? I also find true "belief" unlikely as this is a community of skeptics who come into the "faith" already recognising it as a variation of the good old "teapot" argument and a reminder to keep religion out of our schools. I guess i could find true belief in one way. To quote Arthur Dent: "I shall go mad!"
Now...where were we? Ah yes. The beheading!!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I am an honest-to-goodness Pastafarian. I pray to His Noodliness even when nobody's around to see. When I need good luck or just to know I'm being watched over overnight or the next day, I wear my PotC pajamas, a bandanna, and an eyepatch to bed. I carry my Gospel around with me in my backpack. I am not unprepared for the possibility that the Flying Spaghetti Monster doesn't exist, but the thought that He might be there gives me comfort.
I am a Pastafarian! ARRRRGH!

Sorry, I take the forum FAQ as a holy text, and it says we should tolerate those with different beliefs than ourselves. I suppose that covers ignorance too.
I think the non-message-board-specific bits of it should be included in the Loose Canon, in fact. I'll post about that somewhere relevant.

If he/she weighs the same as a duck then he/she is either really sick or some sort of infant genius.

I think... It is probably possible that someone might start believing in the FSM, but only a really long time from now, once the original purpose has been lost. Sort of like christianity.
