Re: Legal restrictions and Pastafarian Ministers
You misunderstand US law. There is no universal registry of churches. In california, you can simply state that you are eligible to marry someone and you are... legally. In NV, the church must be registered with the state and some counties demand a letter of good standing with that church. Other stat...

Re: Legal restrictions and Pastafarian Ministers
When I registered in NV last year, they required a "certificate of good standing" from a registered church (ULC). Now, it could be that something like.... ummm.. the first Pasta church of Sacramento, or whatever local branch of the CFSM you have registers with the state, then gives letters...

Dusty Chapel
I'm thinking about building a small chapel to FSM at Burningman this year. Naturally, we'll have services on Friday and maybe I'll marry a couple of people there. I'm looking for ideas regarding setup, decoration, running Friday mass, etc. Let's hear it, what would you do for a small chapel and serv...

Re: Ministership
Actually, in california, those papers grant you the ability to marry. I did some checking and there's no listing service or whatever for these things. So, yes, those $20 can actually DO something.

Re: The New Convert Thread - MAKE YOUR FIRST POST HERE
If you do a search, you'll find a couple of discussions about that. The short answer would be " nothing official, pick your own".

Re: Legal restrictions and Pastafarian Ministers
It's not necessarily a state by state thing. In NV there are state registered religions, but the counties determine if you need to be registered or not. If not, then you can claim any religion you like. But in Vegas, Reno and some others, you must be a certified member of a registered religion. In o...

I'm looking forward to celebrating Holiday this winter - but I don't know where to find a pirate hat and eye patch.
I got mine here: http://www.captjackspiratehats.com/

Re: Disney - Evil or just pathetic?
Umm, the idea that pirates add a lot of extra RRRs to their speak is also a Disney fabrication. Robert Newton, one of the most popular actors of the mid-twentieth century, was born in Dorset in the West Country, but travelled to Hollywood to make films, including two in the early 1950s which have co...
