Re: What are you reading right now?
That's funny, I read the HDM series at 28 and thought that it was something that would really appeal to a 13 year old. My reaction was that the first book was excellent, but the second two so horrific as to make it the second biggest literary disappointment of my life. Nothing like a guy acting like...

It's not a movie, it's a tv series. And not a mini-series, a regular full length cable style tv series. They're doing a season per book, probably 12ish episodes a season.

Excuse me, but we're talking about LITERATURE here. This is NOT the time to be diplomatic! This is the stuff wars should be waged over!

Re: What are you reading right now?
I say: READ the Dark Tower series. I thought the first book was horrible but the 2nd and onward really picked up (the 2nd in particular is my favorite). NO! Don't listen to him, he's being paid to spread propaganda, it's all downhill from book 5 on! Where is the snarling, slavering FSM when you nee...

Re: What are you reading right now?
I'm pretty sure the second book is called the Subtle Knife. His Dark Materials is the name of the trilogy. I haven't got very far through Gunslinger. Besides, I'm only reading the Dark Tower books so I can understand the Dark Tower comics later. I know, I was referring to the series intentionally, ...

Re: What are you reading right now?
I've read it so I'll spoil it for you. Dumbledore dies. The Gunslinger - Stephen King Tiger In The Well - Phillip pullman Both very nice books. Do NOT read the Gunslinger series. That series was the single biggest literary disappointment of my life. Edit: And you know, I think the second was "...

There are actually a lot of different kinds of noodles from Italy. Spaghetti is just one kind, but probably the most famous. There is also penne, rigatoni, linguini, farfalle, lasagna, and lots of others. All the Italian noodles together can be called pasta, which is how you could distinguish noodle...

Re: What are you reading right now?
It took me several times starting Lord of the Rings before I got all the way through it. I kept bogging down halfway through The Two Towers. Usually in the part out in the swamps with Frodo and Sam. UDK#1 has also read Fellowship , and also gotten about half-way through the second book. Must run in...

Re: What's The Last Movie You Saw?
Agreed. The acting is great (I love the relationship stuff), and the scenes that are there are written well (not hard, just copy pasting from the book), but sometimes it's like... too fast. It's just Oh! and now this happened. Definitely not enough time spent on the title issue, I think though. Lik...

Re: Top Ten Books
1. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier 2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte 3. The Hot Zone by Richard Preston 4. Thursday Next by Jasper Fforde (that's 5 books right there, kind of cheating) 5. A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin (another 4 books) 6. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory 7. Wutheri...

Re: What's The Last Movie You Saw?
Just saw Harry Potter 6, which I've been dying of anticipation for since last July. I thought it was great, although I got the distinct impression that they no longer give a crap about people who haven't read the books. I'm fine with that, and I doubt that much of the audience is comprised of people...
