Re: Weird Foods

Most of the comments here were made (including my own) were made on the basis of ingredients or eye appeal - Balut or my boiled brains come to mind. Taste is another matter and so is SMELL! Kimchi and Durian come to mind, although they taste OK. I wouldn't want to be on a long air plane flight next ...

Re: Cool stuff found on the Interwebs

Cardinal Fang, (With regards to the 'pinko, commie liberal' - Sibling says that I'm idologically bipolar. I'm liberal on some things, conservative on others. Averages out overall to something slightly left of centre I'd guess - but that's left of centre in the UK, which would make it pretty damn lib...

Re: Cool stuff found on the Interwebs

Cardinal Fang, you must indeed be a 'pinko, commie liberal.' :-) The very idea that pro-active reforms might save communities money must make the conservatives cringe. Dealing in a reactive manner is always more expensive, but that is the direction most of the States have taken. I wish more of them ...

Why Yanks are better than Brits. Cardinal Fang wrote: At least out hereditary head of state is constitutionally bound to be apolitical - and hence the police and military swear allegiance to something removed from politics. Can the same be true of the US where the C-in-C is a politician? Ah, I have...

Re: Why Brits are better than Yanks

Back to the lighter topic of Yanks and Brits. Although we have a King Obama (with many other given names) we are still not as obsessed with the ‘Royals’ as the English seem to be. According to the British press, “Prince Charles does not want to be like his mother.” As I read it she does not want to...

Re: Why Brits are better than Yanks

Griffin, I think this is an issue that needs improvement in both countries. In the US, we do not (or have made it very difficult to) provide proper mental or physical care for our returning Vets. As for the elderly suffering from chronic long term health problems such as Alzheimer's one has to wait ...
