Re: All Things Words

When I lived in the DC 'burbs, an aide to DC's mayor got fired for using 'niggardly' - a perfectly good word - in a budget meeting. He was shunned for a while but eventually got hired back on in another position, after a public vocabulary lesson for the rest of the city government. I remembe...

Re: How's your library?

Right now it's all in boxes. There aren't a lot of books in those boxes, but they're all ones that I like. And multiple copies of some of them ( The Monkey Wrench Gang for example) because when I loan them out, I don't expect them to ever come back. We'll see how many shelf feet they occupy after I ...

Th' driver open'd me door, an' I foun' meself at th' Governor's doorstep. Cellphone capture of the teaser for TR2N, aka, TRON 2 from the San Diego ComicCon. I'm sure it's still out there somewhere, and yea, Jeff Bridges is in it.

Re: When I see this, I will be able to die happy

The number of people who see a film hardly has any effect on how good it was. Everyone's heard of The Seven Samurai , but I find that Yojimbo , Rashomon , and Ikiru were very nearly as good. True as far as it goes, but I'm a big movie fan and if those movies are on the same level as Seven Samurai, ...

Re: The Dark Knight

Finally saw it.

I've been a fan for a long, long time. Even the Adam West years.

My response, after some thought -

"Holy shit! I mean...I jus..er...like...they...he....Holy Shit!"

I need to see it again. Soonish. Tomorrow, probably. And then, again. Holy shit!
