Re: Picked up The God Delusion yesterday
Geez, you do have a long commute...for which I *totally* understand the reasons. LOL at the TV antennas in the attic - a friend of mine lived next to a Christian Reformed minister when she was growing up - they had a TV (the minister's family) so they could "keep an eye out" for ungodline...

Re: Picked up The God Delusion yesterday
I see your also located in Michigan. I got mine at the B&N in Grandville at the mall. Which is also a very rabidly fundie town. There is a megachurch just a couple blocks from the mall. Perhaps that's the town your speaking of? Hah! Grandville ain't even tryin'...I'm talking Holland, home of th...

Re: Picked up The God Delusion yesterday
Barnes and Nobles located my God Delusion in the science section, near the bottom as well, thought they had 1 copy faced outwards so it was visible. Not a SINGLE atheist book in the religion section. they were all under "science" which I find misleading and inappropriate. It is probably a...

Re: Picked up The God Delusion yesterday
Oddly enough, being as the closest town of any size is rabidly fundy, the local B&N has one whole wall covered with Pagan/Spiritualist stuff, twenty feet or so of New Age, and a ton of other stuff that surprised me mightily. Haven't looked there for "The God Delusion" - next time I'm ...

Re: Most overrated writers/books
Stephen King- He has wrote quite a few good books but has also wrote quite a few flops. His collection of short stories called "Nightmares and Dreamscapes" is quite good and I actually enjoyed parts of the first book in the dark tower series (the gunslinger). But lots of his stuff is just ...

Picked up The God Delusion yesterday
Yes, I know I'm a little late since this book came out in 06'. I went to Barnes and Nobel and was happy to see that they had the book in stock. What I was NOT happy to see was that it was on the bottom shelf of the science section without the cover being visible, they couldn't have made it any harde...

Bah. Dawkins...Harris... Intolerance dressed up as logic. I have no time for people who claim that teaching my child about religion is tantamount to child abuse. But it IS child abuse. Indoctrination of children is a horrible thing. That's your opinion and to be quit honest I could care less what a...

No, it's not child abuse. Forcing your child to be religously devout is child abuse, and by FSM, I hope you don't do that. I agree. But I think the overwhelming majority of theists would flip their wigs if their child said they did not want to go to church anymore. Even more if they said they were ...

George Carlin should be made an honorary Pastafarian
1st He is fricken hilarious. 2nd Even though he prays to Joe Pesci I think he could be converted fairly easily to pastafarianism. 3rd He has a strong voice to get the message of pastafarianism out to the masses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeSSwKffj9o higher qualtiy clip but doesn't start with th...
